If the water won't go down, the toilet is overflowing or the whole house smells of drains, you have a blockage and it's best to act before it gets worse. At Limpiezas y Desatascos Campos we've been unblocking drains in Mallorca for over 10 years, in homes, residential blocks, hotels, restaurants and businesses. We answer the phone 24 hours a day.
Drain unblocking with a jetting truck
Most serious blockages can't be fixed with a plunger. Grease, limescale, wet wipes and sand form solid plugs that stick to the inside of the pipe, sometimes several metres away.
That's why we work with a high-pressure jetting truck: we feed a hose into the drain or inspection chamber and a nozzle fires water backwards at high pressure. The jet breaks up the blockage, flushes away the debris and scours the pipe walls. Nothing gets broken and the pipe is left clean inside, not just with a hole punched through the blockage.
With this system we clear kitchen and bathroom pipes, soil stacks in buildings, inspection chambers, sewer pipes and connections right up to the main sewer.
Signs that you have a blocked drain
A blockage hardly ever appears out of nowhere. There are warning signs. If you notice any of these, call us before the water starts coming out where it shouldn't.
Water is slow to drain away
The sink, shower or washbasin takes longer and longer to empty. It's the clearest sign that the pipe is closing up inside.
Bad smells
A drain smell that doesn't go away when you clean usually means debris has built up in the pipe or an inspection chamber is full.
Noises in the pipes
Gurgling when you flush the toilet or when the washing machine empties: air isn't moving properly because something is blocking the way.
Water coming back up through drains
If water comes up through the shower when the washing machine runs, or the toilet rises when you empty the bath, the blockage is already in the main drain of the house. This is not the time to wait.
There's more detail in our article on the signs that a blockage is forming (in Spanish).
Types of blockage we clear
Blocked sinks and kitchen drains
The kitchen is the most common blockage. Hot grease goes down as a liquid, cools in the pipe and sets solid along with food scraps. We clean the whole run down to the soil stack or the inspection chamber. To stop it happening again, see how to prevent kitchen sink blockages (in Spanish).
Blocked toilets and soil stacks
Wet wipes, sanitary towels, too much paper or objects that have fallen in. We unblock the toilet and, if the problem is further down, the building's soil stack. In flats it's common for a neighbour's blockage to affect the flats below.
Blocked inspection chambers and sewer pipes
Inspection chambers collect sand, roots and grease. When they fill up, water from the whole house stops draining. We open, vacuum out and clean the chamber and the pipe through to the sewer or the septic tank. If the inspection chamber is covered over and nobody knows where it is, we'll find it.
Drain clearance for residents' associations and garages
Shared soil stacks, communal sewer pipes, garage floor drains and gratings. We work with the property manager or the association's president and invoice the residents' association.
Drain clearance for hotels, restaurants and businesses
At a hotel or restaurant, a blockage in the middle of the season means kitchens out of action, rooms closed and unhappy guests. We take emergency call-outs at any hour and fit around your schedule to cause as little disruption as possible.
For professional kitchens, the most cost-effective approach is to combine drain clearance with regular grease trap cleaning: most restaurant blockages start there. Find out more about our service for hotels and restaurants.
How we clear a blocked drain
- You tell us what's happening. By phone or WhatsApp: which drain is playing up, since when and where you are. That's enough for us to know what to bring.
- We give you a rough price. No obligation, so you can decide with the facts in front of you.
- We locate the blockage. We check drains and inspection chambers to find which section the plug is in.
- We clear it by jetting. We clean the whole section, not just the spot where the blockage was.
- We check. We run water through every affected drain to confirm everything flows properly, and we tidy up.
What to do while you wait for us
- Stop using water in the house: no washing machine, no dishwasher, no flushing. Every litre that goes in looks for a way out through the lowest drain.
- Turn off the stopcock if water is coming out of a toilet or shower and won't stop.
- Don't pour in caustic soda or hydrochloric acid. They don't clear the blockage and they make the job more dangerous for everyone.
- Find the inspection chamber if you know where it is and keep the access clear: it saves time when we arrive.
- Take a photo of what you can see and send it to us on WhatsApp. It helps us bring exactly the right equipment.
How much does drain unblocking cost in Mallorca?
The price of clearing a drain depends on several things, which is why we don't give a fixed figure without knowing what's going on:
- Type of blockage: a kitchen sink is not the same as a shared soil stack or a sewer pipe.
- Whether the jetting truck is needed or it can be sorted with hand equipment.
- Access: whether the inspection chamber is visible, whether it needs locating and whether the truck can get close.
- Time: emergencies at weekends or on bank holidays.
- Distance from our base in Campos.
Call us on 646 50 53 43: after two or three questions we'll give you a rough price, with no obligation. If you prefer, message us on WhatsApp with a couple of photos.

Frequently asked questions about blocked drains
How quickly can you get to an emergency blocked drain?
It depends on where you are and what other call-outs we have at the time. Call us and we'll give you a real arrival time, without promising what we can't deliver.
How much does drain unblocking cost in Mallorca?
There's no single price: it depends on the type of blockage, whether the jetting truck is needed, access and the time of day. Call us, tell us what's happening and we'll give you a rough price, with no obligation.
Do caustic soda or hydrochloric acid work for unblocking drains?
Sometimes they open things up a little, but they don't remove the blockage and they can damage the pipes and burn your skin. We explain why in our article on whether caustic soda clears drains (in Spanish).
Do you carry out CCTV drain surveys?
If you need a camera inspection, we can arrange it for you. We organise it together with the drain clearance.
Do you clear drains for residents' associations and garages?
Yes. We clear shared soil stacks, sewer pipes, courtyard inspection chambers and garage floor drains, and we invoice the residents' association.
Can the truck get into old town centres or narrow streets?
Tell us what the access is like when you call. We work with long hoses so we can reach from wherever the truck can park.
